Joseph D. Murphy
b. 6/2/1907 m. Anna Wilhelmena Nichols 11/28/1936 d. 1/11/1995 - 9 children. Attended Rockhurst College and MIT. He joined the Washington University School of Architecture faculty in 1935, and in 1949 was named dean. He formed a partnership with Eugene Mackey in 1952, and they were responsible for designing the Climatron at Missouri Botanical Garden in 1961. It is the first fully climate-controlled display greenhouse in the world. When Mackey died in 1968, Murphy formed a new partnership known as Murphy, Downey, Wofford & Richman Architects
