James and Mary Baggett met and married 12/12/1889 near Humbolt County, KS (Near Walton and Newton). They stayed there until 1896 when they moved to Glencoe, Oklahoma to farm. Between 1907 and 1910 they moved to South Houston to start an orange farm (which apparently was not a good idea). By 1917, they had moved to Bolivar, MO to take over a dairy farm where they stayed until after WWI was over. For a period in 1920 they lived in Springfield, MO with Jame's cousin Charles Franklin Baggett (his father was Uncle Newt - James Newton Baggett). Charles had moved to Glencoe as well at the turn of the century but had moved to back to Springfield to settle down during the war.
After Bolivar, the Baggetts moved to Kansas City, Kansas at 205 Orchard. According to my grandfather Joe Baggett, James began working as a carpenter and making a decent living at $1 an hour. "the family bought a modest 2 story house, a piano for Lou and a violin for me (Joe) and lessons. We neither of us became very good musicians but we enjoyed it for the rest of our lives." From the census records, it was quite the bustling house after Lewis, Ruby and James died (all between 1924-26) as Lloyd and Uldene lived there as well as cousin Hazel Krouse.

b. 7/22/1907 m. William Richenbacher 6/16/1945 d. 9/3/2000. Lou had to quit school to support the household after her father died. She worked at a downtown KC department store and took a 6 week business training course for the "comptometer." With this skill she was able to get work at the Swift Packing Co. and other firms including Shelly Oil Co., Fox Midwest Theatres and the Fred Harvey Restaurant Co. at Union Station. She moved for a period of time to California with the Fox Midwest and also to Chicago with Fred Harvey. While working at Union station, she arrived to work to find a crowd. She had missed by minutes the shoot out between KCPD and the Mafia. She met Rick while working for Harvey. After they married, they moved to Colorado Springs, where they opened a store and then to Topeka, KS where they took over Rick's father's The Fair Store. After Rick died in 1982, Lou moved to an elderly community in Lees Summit, MO.
